TRIBUNJAKARTA.COM – L’Oreal Brandstorm Competition will be held again in 2020 and will be participated by students from various universities throughout Indonesia.

With the main theme “Build a Plastic-less Future in the Beauty Industry”, the PlusTree team from the Bandung Institute of Technology as a winner at the national level will compete at the international level to win the grand prize of the Intrapreneurship Award from the world’s largest startup campus, Station F in Paris and attend the One Young World Summit in Munich.

International winners will be given an internship opportunity in Paris for 3 months to develop their ideas.

This year’s theme is very special because for the first time L’Oréal Brandstorm raised the company’s commitment to sustainable development, Sharing Beauty with All, as the main mission given to the participants.

Students are challenged to create innovative ideas to reduce or eliminate the use of plastics, create business solutions and change consumer behavior.

“Through L’Oréal Brandstorm 2020 with the main theme” Building a Plastic-less Future in the Beauty Industry “, we invite young Indonesian generation to create environmentally friendly innovations to reduce the use of plastics to build the future of the beauty industry,” said Umesh Phadke, President Director , L’Oréal Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Restu Widiati, Human Resources Director, L’Oréal Indonesia explained, the desire to maximize the potential of young Indonesian talents through the L’Oréal Brandstorm 2020 competition.

More than 1000 students from various universities in Indonesia registered and sent diverse ideas as evidence of the active role of the young generation’s involvement in creating innovations to answer one of the biggest environmental challenges today.

The PlusTree team consists of Antonius Reynard Affandi, Farhan Hadi Taskaya and Karin Adriana. The three of them took S1 studies at the Bandung Institute of Technology.

They created innovations to reduce the use of one-time plastic packaging with biomass packages that can decompose into the soil

This product changes the plastic starting material on packages made from petroleum into natural materials made from starch fibers such as corn and cassava. Inside the PLUSTREE package there are seeds that can grow into plants.

After being used by consumers, PLUSTREE packaging can be placed into pots as seeds to grow plants.

PLUSTREE will change consumer behavior to become more environmentally conscious and create environmentally friendly community programs with the help of interactive applications.

“The selection of winners is done by looking at four aspects namely innovation, benefits, readiness for application of ideas, and scalability,” explained Mohammad Bijaksana Junerosano, founder of Waste4Change, and guest judge L’Oréal Brandstorm 2020.

Held since 1992, L’Oréal Brandstorm is a competition that has been consistently run by L’Oréal Global to find outstanding talents who are future leaders.

More than 40,000 students from all parts of the world have participated and presented innovations that can answer future challenges.

The national winner of the L’Oréal Brandstorm will be given the opportunity to join L’Oréal Indonesia and get a direct mentorship by the L’Oréal Indonesia Management Committee before competing with other teams from 65 countries at the international level on June 23-24, 2020.
