Jakarta –
PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Pupuk Kujang and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) have entered into a Joint Venture Framework Agreement for the development of a catalyst plant. As a follow up, the factory will soon be built in Cikampek.
ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif today met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the plant’s construction plan. He reported that the construction of the plant will be carried out at the end of March 2020.
“The catalyst who wants to make fuel from palm oil will be signed in the first week of March and then plan to groundbreaking the factory in Cikampek at the end of March. Make the factory first,” he said at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Thursday (2/27/2020).
The plant will be jointly managed by Pertamina, ITB, and Kujang Fertilizers. The investment value to set up this factory is estimated at Rp 150 billion.
“For its capacity, I forgot how many thousands of tons,” he said.
A catalyst is a substance to accelerate the rate of chemical reactions at certain temperatures used in the processing of oil and gas products. ITB itself is able to make catalysts that can be useful for the production of palm oil-based biofuel.
Kujang Fertilizer itself also plays a role in providing land for the development of a catalyst plant. The land prepared is around 2 hectares.
