Every team effort to solve a challenge carries a longer story — late-night discussions, self-doubt, figuring things out along the way, and the courage to begin before feeling fully ready.
Team RENEWOVA from Chemical Engineering ITB showed that innovation can grow from a simple conversation between students who genuinely care about real problems around them
Through their essay S-SOVEREIGN, they explored a challenge that often goes unnoticed: how renewable energy systems in remote 3T regions can remain accessible, sustainable, and truly owned by local communities. Their approach combines self-cleaning coating technology with a modular pay-as-you-go plug-and-play system to support decentralized solar energy access in East Flores.

What makes this achievement meaningful is not only the 2nd Place title at the IYREF 2026 National Essay Competition, but also the process behind it — curiosity, persistence, countless hours of reading and discussion, and the willingness to keep learning together.
