In an effort to strengthen international networks and advance academic collaboration, the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), conducted a visit to the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM). The visit focused on academic collaboration mapping as an initial step to identify potential strategic partnerships between the two institutions. academic collaboration mapping sebagai langkah awal untuk mengidentifikasi potensi kerja sama strategis antara kedua institusi.
The discussions highlighted several collaboration opportunities with strong potential for medium-term implementation. One of the most promising outcomes was a preliminary agreement on the development of a student exchange program. The proposed scheme includes opportunities for ITB Chemical Engineering students to undertake coursework at UNM, as well as the development of short academic programs for UNM students to participate in academic activities at ITB. This initiative is planned to be implemented starting in 2027, taking into account the readiness of curricula, academic systems, and administrative aspects of both institutions.
In addition, both parties emphasized the importance of further exploration in curriculum mapping as a foundation for more integrated collaboration. This process will focus on identifying the alignment of learning outcomes, curriculum structures, and course compatibility between the two programs. Through this approach, opportunities may emerge to develop more comprehensive forms of academic collaboration in the future, including the exploration of other academic programs.
This visit marks an important initial step in building a sustainable academic partnership between FTI ITB and the University of Nottingham Malaysia. It is expected that the outcomes of this mapping process will be followed up through concrete programs that not only enhance student mobility but also strengthen the quality of education and the global competitiveness of both institutions.
